Dear all
As Psychologists for Social Change we launched an open letter to the government in response to the Green Paper
about 'Transforming Children and Young People's Mental Health' - please read and consider signing as an individual
or as an organisation.
The letter emphasises that the G Paper completely fails to acknowledge the social determinants of CYP's and their families' mental health and well-being, for example, the impact of rising social deprivation, inequality, housing insecurity and
overcrowding on the most disadvantaged families (ie the impact of austerity policies).
The letter also refers to the points made in the report 'Exam Factories' written by the National Union of Teachers about the
impact of repeated high stakes' exams on pupil's mental health.
If you would like to read and sign the letter please do so here: http://www.psychchange.org/uk-government-green-paper-transforming-children-and-young-peoplersquos-mental-health-provision.html
We are also encouraging people to use the official consultation process as an opportunity to influence the Green Paper, if
they haven't responded already.
Many thanks
PSC colleagues
