Hi Glen,  Great to read your comments re the workshop we did at the conference all those years ago.  I remember at the time we were all a little disheartened by low attender numbers, tho not with the quality of engagement!  - it's a great reminder that little by little it's worth  making the effort and sharing.

The job opportunities might be better placed on the noticeboard rather than as an event as events are usually reserved for events like workshops/conferences/seminars etc.  You might get more uptake via the noticeboard on the Ning.  You may also want to post something on the JISCMail List (see the link in the middle right of the Ning web page, which takes you to the JISC Mail List). Good luck in getting some applications.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'd be really interested in advice on developing a research project to look at the outcomes of developing a recovery oriented system of care across a couple of addiction services locally (in Central Scotland). The recovery development worker and I have been having lots of conversations about measuring the impact on the local communities, service users, families and staff, and your paper suggested that a critical/transformative approach might be ideal, but I have little experience in developing projects of this kind. Any tips, or thoughts from folk who have developed research along these lines would be most gratefully received!

Thanks, Glenn. I am a lifelong community educator with a parallel interest in personal and social psychology. Steve Mellhuish has just introduced me to Community Psychology. I think I'm 'coming home'! I have a particular current interest in community psychology and older age and would be very interested in connecting with others similarly interested. Leicester is about to embark on a Big Lottery strategic programme addressing older people and social isolation.

When i have found my way around the site and see what's what i will get a better idea of where i am. I am unemployed at present but only use the computer in the early evenings to see what's going on then spend the rest of the time looking for jobs.

I will pop in to see the latest thinking and see the other persons view.

I am a member of 38 degrees so will be collecting peoples 'Autographs' on Saturday to ask for the Government NOT to privatisation  our loved N.H.S if anyone around in Gloucester on Saturday come and say hello.... and sign.

I am not a professional. However, the way I have always thought about 'problems', and them not being related solely to people's lack of responsibility or will-power, etc., but environmental factors too, I found mirrored in the work of David Smail when I came across him about 25 years ago, and have been an avid 'fan' since.
I'm more likely to 'lurk' here, and just watch what's going on, if that's OK?

Thank you for your welcoming message! I have been looking in the forum but I haven't found any information about career paths. I have a degree in Psychology and I just finished my MSc in research in psychology. I did my research on critical community psychology and arts for health. I enjoyed it very much and I am really interested in starting to gain work experience in the field, but I'm not sure where to start or what types of jobs I could look for... What key words should I use when looking for a job as community psychologist?

Could you give me some advise on this? It would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for the Welcome (embarrassingly - for me - a year ago: many apologies...I don't think I saw it). I'd like to revamp myself in this Community Psychology dimension, and was inspired to get back to it by the page in The Psychologist, November 2015, when I saw the advert for the Festival in Manchester.  Your welcome spoke a NING. What is a NING?

Also, am I/should I be, paying an Annual Subscription? And if I am, how am I doing it? If I should be, how can I pay it?

Not a problem at all.  Sometimes it's difficult to keep up with these kinds of things and I've recently not had a chance to log on either.  Apologies for my late reply too!  It's great to hear you're inspired to get back into Community Psychology after seeing the advert in The Psychologist about the Festival.  The Ning is this social media platform that we're using now to communicate as it's called the Community Psychology UK Ning and it's a chance to set up Discussion Forums, publicise Community Psychology-relevant events, share videos relevant to Community Psychology and so on.  There's no Annual Subscription for the Ning.  It's free to use. 

Hope you're able to attend the Festival but, if not, hope you're able to make the most of the Ning environment to share experiences, learning, research and practice with other Community Psychology UK Ning members.

Hello Glenn, many thanks. I thought I'd joined a while ago but obviously hadn't!

2 things I'd like to let you know about:

We're having a BPS Scotland roundtable on Scotland's Dementia strategy. The is to influence the new Scottish Government Dementia Strategy and in particular to support the participation of people with dementia, in the BPS consultation process (FPOP already do this and I've just joined the Faculty - anyone can). I'll also be hosting a roundtable on how community psychology can support people with dementia and especially round Dementia Friendly Communities.

Also we emailed about the joint BPS Branch Forum and Community Psychology Section  Communities of Hope events/workstream not sure what you'd call it! It's next manifestation is at the Northern Ireland Conference. 

I'm planning to write up both with pictures if that's any help. If you think anyone would be interested let me know.

Thanks for the welcome. No worries about the delay. I did get a little confused by the limbo state the site left me in after accepting and registering my email address, but then reporting that it had no record of my email address on its system. In any event, all sorted now.
