Psychologists Against Austerity

As practitioners working with some of the most vulnerable members of society we are well placed to comment on the impacts of recent economic policies of austerity. From unequivocal research evidence and from our personal experience as psychologists, it is clear that the psychosocial impacts of our current austerity regime are devastating to a growing number of people. It is for this reason that we believe that we need to speak out on political practices whose impacts are to dehumanise, exclude and damage both vulnerable people and those made vulnerable by austerity.
