Here's the programme for the Festival!

The BPS Community Psychology Section is holding its inaugural Community Psychology Festival in London on 28-29th November 2014. See: CPF_flyer.jpg
The Festival is intended to be an accessible educational alternative to an academic conference.
It will be a celebration of the works of community organisations and charities in their role to support well-being and promote social justice and community cohesion, and will largely be themed around issues related to children and young people.
We hope the Festival will help build mutually beneficial relationships that link research and practice.
To register to attend, please go to this website:

Hope to see you there!

Sounds fantastic! I very much hope to be able to attend- and can already envisage, as we have just been speaking about the London-centricity of so many wonderful psychology events, a branch off here in the South West sometime too if all goes well! Look forward to it- thank you for organising such a thoughtful event!
Thanks for your feedback, Olivia. I do agree with you about the London-centric issue and it will be good it we can broaden out these events to other parts of the UK in years to come. In the meantime, we hope a fair few people can attend this inaugural meeting to kick-start things. Hope to see you there!
All the best,
Glenn
Hi all,
Some of us in the midlands are thinking about the potential opportunities for the festival and were curious to know what range of presentations people have committed to facilitating. We are trying to think creatively but were looking for inspiration!
Best wishes
Abdullah
Hi Abdullah,
It's great to hear you're planning to submit something for the Festival and I can give you a bit of a range of the type of invited guests that we have got at the moment, along with the kind of areas to be covered. Listed below is a taster:
The speaker list so far is:
Storm Empowerment: http://stormempowerment.com/
The Brick Box: http://www.thebrickbox.co.uk/
Kids Company: http://www.kidsco.org.uk/
MAC-UK: http://www.mac-uk.org/
Angela Byrne - 'Walk and Talk'
A joint contribution from 'Converge' and 'Out of Character'
A pecha kucha presentation entitled "'Community Psychology in Action and Research: innovative approaches to health promotion and social justice"
A drama therapy workshop
A session on Forum Theatre by Nick Hammond
And a session by colleagues at the University of Sussex.
Hope this helps as a taster. The main thing is to make it interactive and one that is not likely to get confused as a traditional presentation that might be given at an academic conference. As it's meant to be a Festival, rather than a conference, we want to try to get novel, innovative and fresh ideas from participants. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask away.
Best wishes
Glenn
Thats a great help, thanks!

Glenn
