Power to Communities: Healing through social justice - INTAR conference - June 2014

Registration for the INTAR 2014 Conference is now open!  Wednesday 25th – Friday 27th June 2014, Liverpool, U.K.

The International Network Toward Alternatives and Recovery gathers prominent survivors, professionals, family members, and advocates from around the world to work together for new clinical and social practices in response to emotional distress and what is often labeled as psychosis. Based in leading edge research and successful innovations, INTAR believes the prevailing biomedical overreliance on diagnoses, hospitals, and medications has failed to respect the dignity and autonomy of the person in crisis, and that full recovery must be at the center of ethical care.
Conference Themes:
Social injustice and mental health ~ Securing human rights in psychiatric careCultural diversity and mental health ~
Creating and developing healing communities Arts and madness

The event, to take place over three days in Liverpool, UK, will feature plenary sessions from international speakers dealing with these themes, as well as workshops by individuals and groups who work at the cutting edge of these themes.
