Event Description

Invitation to participatory workshops on communication of chronic pain

A group of us at the LSE are working on a project exploring the value of artistic means of communicating pain. We are offering a series of 4 participatory workshops, each exploring a different medium (e.g. body mapping, photography, sound, movement, social networks, digital technologies). We invite people who experience chronic pain and clinicians who treat pain to participate in the workshops. Each workshop will be facilitated by practising and participatory artists, and will invite participants to explore different means of communicating pain. We have some fantastically creative and thoughtful practitioners lined up to facilitate the workshops and hope that they will offer us all new ways of thinking about pain and its communication.
Workshops will take place at the Pulross Centre in Brixton, South London, on 1st Feb, 15th Feb, 1st March and 15th March. There is no cost to attend. We will provide refreshments, lunch, and return travel costs (within the Greater London area). The workshops run from 11am to 4:00pm.

We invite people with chronic pain (however that is defined by the person themselves) to participate. Informal carers of people with pain, and formal care providers are also welcomed to take part.
If you would like more information or to sign up, please visit our website at www.communicatingchronicpain.org (and click the 'Workshops' link), or e-mail: info@communicatingchronicpain.org.
